Blue Jeans & BBQ
(March)
The Chamber began this fun event in 2015 as Chamber partners wanted to bring the community together and salute the agriculture industry in particular. Minden is very dependent on agriculture for its livelihood – and we wanted to gather to network and celebrate the people who invest in our agricultural businesses! The event usually takes place at the Kearney County Fairgrounds and includes a catered BBQ dinner and live entertainment. All are welcome to attend! Tickets can be purchased from the Chamber.

Minden DAWG Days
(May 4th)
Minden DAWG Days happens each year in downtown Minden and includes loads of family fun like a cornhole tournament, bounce houses, games and more!
This is a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community and enjoy the many good things that build community spirit in our town.
Minden Fireworks
(July)
Join us for city-wide fireworks each July as we celebrate the Independence of our great nation on July 2nd at the Kearney County Fairgrounds. Free will donations appreciated.
Fair, 4H, and AG Appreciation BBQ
(July 19-22, 2024)
There’s nothing like a good, old county fair! 4H activities, carnival rides, funnel cakes, and our annual Ag Appreciation BBQ on July 20th with our local famous brisket and pulled pork from Midwest Meats! Mmmmm, mmm! We’d love to have you join us!
Minden Bandfest
(October)
Plan to come to Minden for the annual Minden Bandfest on October 14th. This parade of bands from all over Nebraska always proves to be an exciting event. The parade is free and the field competition in the afternoon is only a minimal fee. Great entertainment right here in town!
Halloween Parade
(October)
This parade, geared toward kids, is held on the square on October 31st. Costumes are encouraged and the candy is flowing!
Christmas Traditions Festival
(December)
Christmas caroling, Christmas on the Prairie at Pioneer Village, Christmas City Tour of Homes, Rotary Club Pancake Feed, Letters to Santa, city-wide Christmas lights competition, Live Nativity, Santa and reindeer, Christmas parade, Gift wrapping and bake sale by Holy Family Catholic Church at the Minden Opera House, Choir Concert with Soup supper to follow at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Polar Express
Ladies Night Out
(November)
Ladies! Join Minden businesses and direct sales representatives for a fun event of holiday shopping on the square. This event includes great sales, giveaways, raffles, beverages, and MORE! Treat yourself to a night out on the town on November 17th.
Shop Local Saturday
(November)
Shop Local Saturday is a day dedicated to purchasing goods and services from our very own, Minden-based businesses. Come on out and support local businesses and organizations for all your shopping needs on November 25th.
Light of the World Pageant
(December)
This event on the square in downtown Minden is a beautiful light festival and celebration of the true meaning of Christmas. It ends with fire pits and s’mores on the square and is a ‘staple’ of the Minden Christmas tradition!
Miss Christmas City Pageant
(December)
This event is an actual pageant held at the Minden Opera House. Come watch the candidates in their beautiful evening gowns, displaying their talents for our local community.
Christmas City 5k Run & Little Elf Run
(December)
Since 2010, the Chamber has hosted this fun event! Costumes are encouraged and the top three runners in each category will medal. There are 4 age groups and a male and female division in each: age 15 and under, ages 16-30, ages 31-45, and ages 46 and over. Even if you aren’t a runner yourself, you can support and encourage those who are!
